Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver, Regina born Chris Getzlaf has announced his retirement from the CFL.
Chris Getzlaf began his career as a Hamilton Tiger-Cat, drafted in the 5th round of the 2007 CFL Draft and was traded home to Saskatchewan, along with kick returner Corey Holmes in exchange for receiver Jason Armstead. Getzlaf went on to be a huge part of the Riders success from 2007-2013, winning 2 Grey Cups, winning the Canadian Player of the Game in the 2013 Grey Cup with nearly 100 yards and was a part of the Canadian Air Force with Rob Bagg and Andy Fantuz.
Getzlaf finished his career with his 2nd stint as a Rider, signing late in the 2017 season and dressing in the East Semi-Final against Ottawa. For his career, Getzlaf had 409 catches for 6,149 yards and 40 touchdowns (a good chunk of those against the hated Calgary Stampeders).
Thanks for all you’ve done for Ridernation, Chris! Can’t wait to see you back when you get inducted into the Plaza of Honour!
