GAME DAY – Riders Look to Beat Former QB in Montreal

Published: Friday, Aug 11th 2023, 12:08pm
It’s old vs new tonight for the Riders and Alouettes in Montreal. The Riders look to prove that they did the right thing in the offseason by letting QB Cody Fajardo and Offensive Coordinator, now Montreal Head Coach Jason Maas walk out the Riderville doors. And those two look to prove that they weren’t the issue in Saskatchewan during an awful 2022 season.
Riders Head Coach Craig Dickenson added some fuel to the fire this week when asked about Fajardo and Maas feeling like scapegoats by the Riders last season, saying “It’s too bad they feel that way. That’s my response” & “we felt like we needed to make change. Some fresh ideas and some new faces. If we would have been successful, they’d still be here.” SHOTS FIRED! Some of the coaching matchups are what Alex is watching in his Top 5 Things to Watch for the Riders in Montreal.
For the Als, they will be without star RB William Stanback and DT Almondo Sewell and they are saying Cody Fajardo is a true game-time decision with his shoulder injury. The Riders return virtually the same lineup as last week as they avoided injury for the first time this season and are able to keep some continuity going forward on a short week. With a win, the Riders will either gain ground on the BC Lions for 2nd in the West Division or they will create a bit more space between them and the Calgary Stampeders for the 3rd spot. It’s another huge game for the green and white.
