Game Day – Riders Look to SwEEp Elks

The Riders host the Edmonton Elks tonight at Mosaic Stadium and are looking to swEEp them away in their 3 game series this season. The first two games came down to the wire and were honestly not very good games at all. If not for a great defensive goal line stand and one of the most baffling special teams plays you’ll see in the CFL, the Riders could have just as easily lost both those games to Edmonton.
This time, they get to see Tre Ford up close and personal. The Riders had trouble containing Taylor Cornelius earlier this year, so it will be interesting to see how they work to contain Ford. If they keep him in the pocket, the Riders will win this game. If not, it could be a coin flip and a long night for the defense.
The Riders are welcoming back Evan Johnson to the starting lineup on the O-Line, but maybe more importantly, welcome back Philip Blake for his first game this year after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in the preseason. He’s listed as the 6th O-Lineman and will have limited snaps, but this is a big deal for the Riders going forward for the rest of the year.
The only question remaining going into this game is which Rider team will show up? Will it be the team that feeds off the home crowd and wins close games at Mosaic? Surely, it can’t be the road team that gets blown out and give up when they give up a touchdown early, right?
