Game Day – Riders Ready for Banjo Bowl

Published: Saturday, Sep 9th 2023, 8:09am
For the first time since 2019, the Piffles Podcast is on the road to Winnipeg for the Banjo Bowl! The 6-5 Riders look to sweep the annual Labour Day Classic/Banjo Bowl series for the first time in a decade with a win over the Bombers. It won’t be easy for the green and white (this game rarely is) with so many key injuries to starters forcing changes this week.
On the O-Line, Colin Kelly and Evan Johnson are out for the Riders, just as the O-Line as a whole were really starting to grow and turn into a pretty good unit. Brandon Council takes Kelly’s spot at Right Tackle, while Logan Bandy gets the start at Left Guard for Johnson, with Zack Fry drawing in as the 6th.
In the Defensive Backfield, Jayden Dalke is out, so Jaxon Ford gets the start at Safety against an offense that is as explosive as we’ve seen lately with Dalton Schoen, Kenny Lawler and Nic Demski. With Pete Robertson being suspended for the game after his headbutt on Zach Collaros, that means Cody Roscoe makes the roster in his place.
For more on the game, including our keys to Rider victory (and game picks), you can watch this week’s episode of The Piffles Podcast on YouTube and SaskTel maxTV on Demand. Or you can listen anywhere, anytime on your favourite podcast platform! Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss an episode!
