Piffles 2024 Power Rankings Week 4

Published: Tuesday, Jun 25th 2024, 8:06am

Week 3 is over in the CFL, and we still have 3 undefeated teams (Montreal, Saskatchewan and Toronto) and 3 winless teams (Hamilton, Edmonton and Linnipeg). It turns out things go a lot smoother for the Saskatchewan Roughriders if they try and play more than 1 quarter of football.

Let’s see if there was any movement in our aggregated power rankings heading into week 4.

1 – Montreal (LW: 1)

Steve: The Alouettes look like the most well-rounded team in the CFL right now. They are going to be a hard team to beat, but they do have a tough test against Cameron Dukes and the Toronto Argonauts coming up on week 4.

 2 – Saskatchewan (LW: 2)

Alex: Let’s be honest, that 36-20 score flattered Hamilton. The Riders thoroughly dominated that game. They enter a bye atop the West standings and that keeps them behind only Montreal again this week.

3 – BC (LW: 3)

Steve: The Lions have bounced back after an opening week loss to the Argos with a solid win over Winnipeg. The Bombers treated their game like a do or die playoff game, throwing everything they had at BC and BC withstood.

4 – Toronto (LW: 4)

Alex: Big Cameron Dukes fan here. He just keeps these Argos rolling and their win in the best game of the season so far was fun to watch.

5 – Calgary (LW: 5)

Greg: They get to keep their spot, because Jake Maier can’t get exposed on a bye week

6 – Ottawa (LW: 6)

Greg: I’ve called them Pretenders for years and it seems true this year as well. Dru Brown has had Jekyll and Hyde performances through 2 games.

7 – Edmonton (LW: 8)

Steve: What does Edmonton need to do to get a win? They’ve played 3 of the top 4 teams in the power rankings and could realistically be 3-0 – they just don’t seem to have that killer instinct yet. How hot is Chris Jones’ seat right now?

8 – Hamilton (LW: 7)

Greg: Bo came back down to earth this game. They have some good young receivers but when your highest paid receiver has frying pan hands it won’t lead to victory

9 – Winnipeg (LW: 9)

Greg: They used to be it and then what it was changed and now they are no longer it. They got so old so fast they need to tie an onion to their belt
