Piffles Picks – CFL Division Finals

Published: Friday, Nov 10th 2023, 2:11pm

The Division Finals go on Saturday with the same final four as last year… are we in for a repeat Grey Cup matchup? Steve, Greg and Alex make their picks for the weekend and decide who is going to the Grey Cup.

East Final: Montreal @Toronto

Steve (@Safimod) – I don’t see any situation where Toronto doesn’t win by double digits. Nothing about a do or die moment leads me to believe that Cody Fajardo will step up and do rather than die. He’ll fold under pressure, his O-Line will fold under pressure and I think the Argos win by 20.

Greg (@GregOnSports) – I think Toronto is going to stomp the Als. It’s good to see the city rallying around the team this year, it’s probably the best story in the CFL this season. They’re opening the upper deck and the fans will be in for a treat.

Alex (@RealAlexD) – We are going to see some Cody Fajardo magic late in this game… to get the score to within 10. This isn’t going to be particularly close, the Argos run away with it and get the chance to win a Grey Cup in their rival’s stadium.

West Final: BC @ Winnipeg

Steve – All along I would have picked BC. Winnipeg is potentially missing a big piece of their offense with Dalton Schoen not practicing and I don’t think Winnipeg has the horses to hang with a BC team that is healthy. It all comes down to which Vernon Adams Jr. shows up, but I think BC pulls away early and it isn’t really close.

Greg – ABW at this point, Anyone But Winnipeg. I’m hoping for good VA, they have a great group of receivers and I like BC’s defense slightly better than Winnipeg’s. It’s going to be within a field goal, though.

Alex – I really hope we get good Vernon Adams Jr. again like we did last week. All signs point to the Bombers winning and a rematch with the Argos… but I’ve been making my picks for the playoffs based on my CFL hat collection. And I don’t have a Bombers one. BC goes to the Grey Cup.
