Piffles Power Rankings – Week 5

Published: Tuesday, Jul 2nd 2024, 9:07am

An undefeated team is no more, another one loses their QB for 6 games and all 4 winless teams remain winless. It’s been a crazy first month in the CFL! But was there enough to see movement in this week’s Piffles Power Rankings?

1 – Montreal (LW: 1)

Alex: Another game where they blew the doors off their opponents. The score said it was only 10 points, but that win over the Argos was NEVER close. What a dominant team.

2 – Saskatchewan (LW: 2)

Greg: This might be the last 2 spot for the Riders for a while due to the injury of Trevor Harris. So let’s enjoy it while we can.

3 – BC (LW: 3)

Greg: BC held on tight against the winless Elks. They are becoming the epitome of playing to your opponent and that will lead to lost games.

4 – Toronto (LW: 4)

Steve: While they lost, it was to the team at #1 on the rankings. Not going to drop them for that

5 – Calgary (LW: 5)

Alex: Against any other pro football team, they lose last week. Jake Maier was a true Jeckyl and Hyde… luckily they got to play Linnipeg and a full half of Chris Streveler… and they STILL almost blew it. They should be beyond thankful for Rene Paredes.

6 – Ottawa (LW: 6)

Greg: Ottawa is tied for 2nd in the East with 2 wins. Both of their wins were steals at the end of the game. Call it resilience or call it luck. Congrats on being slightly better than the worst.

7 – Edmonton (LW: 7)

Steve: What can you say at this point? They do just enough to keep themselves in the game, only to shoot themselves in the foot to blow it. One of these days they are gonna get it together, right?

8 – Hamilton (LW: 8)

Alex: What is Scott Milanovich doing going with a squib kick to hand Ottawa the win? Coaching was supposed to get better this year, but somehow it’s gotten worse.

9 – Winnipeg (LW: 9)

Alex: Change your hashtag. There is no W. #FourTheL or #FourGamesNoW, whatever. This team has lost the last 7 times they’ve taken the field. It’s over for the blue and gold, they got old and bad fast.
