Piffles Power Rankings – Week 6

The Riders, fresh off a win over the Toronto Argonauts, are now 4-0. Will that be enough to move them up the rankings, or will Montreal’s late comeback win over Calgary keep them at the top? Meanwhile, the Oneipeg Blue Bombers finally join the party and win their first game of the year 5 weeks into the season. Will they remain in the basement, or will they find their way out?

Let’s find out!

1 – Montreal (LW: 1)

Steve: Wasn’t looking good for a while there, but the red-hot Montreal Alouettes won another one. They haven’t lost since September 15th of last season. As long as they keep winning, no matter how ugly, they remain at #1.

2 – Saskatchewan (LW: 2)

Greg: Still undefeated with their QB2. However, this win was 100% on the defense. The CFL’s buzzword this year is “Unreal”, that is this defense.

3 – BC (LW: 3)

Steve: Vernon Adams, Alexander Hollins and Justin McInnis just keep rolling. They sliced through Hamilton like a hot knife through butter. We will see what they can do this week against a formidable Riders defense

 4 – Toronto (LW: 4)

Alex: The best of everyone else? Cameron Dukes struggled hard against the Riders D and that’s two straight week’s they haven’t shown up. Thankfully everyone else is worse?

 5 – Calgary (LW: 5)

Steve: For the first 30 minutes, it certainly looked like Calgary was going to move up the rankings on the backs of a win over the previously undefeated Als. But football is a 4 quarter game, and this Calgary team is mired in the middle of the power rankings yet again.

 6 – Ottawa (LW: 6)

Greg: I truly believe if Dru Brown played the whole game the REDBLACKS win but this team still isn’t great. They are lucky there is so much worse below them.

 7 – Edmonton (LW: 7)

Alex: Unlike Steve, I won’t punish a team on their bye week.

 8 – Winnipeg (LW: 9)

Greg: Winnipeg gets a win… against a bad Ottawa team… after knocking out Ottawa’s starting QB. But hey you aren’t the worst this week.

 9 – Hamilton (LW: 8)

Alex:  The worst defense in the league by far and it is getting worse. I’m really glad that Jeremy O’Day picked Corey Mace and not Scott Milanovich as the Head Coach here in Saskatchewan. What a mess that team is under Milanovich.
