1. Can the Riders stop Willie Jefferson? – Willie J was back to his old tricks last week, looking like the dominating player he always has been. Will Brandon Council and Eric Lofton be able to slow him down?
2. Will the Riders have a running game? – Up until the final 3 minutes of the game, the Riders had exactly no running game whatsoever against the Elks. They have to find a way to take some pressure off of Trevor Harris (or Mason Fine) and to do that, you have to run the ball. Establish it early and DON’T GET AWAY FROM IT!
3. Riders secondary vs Bombers receivers – The Riders secondary looked EXCELLENT against the Elks… outside of the 102 yard TD by Geno Lewis (which Jeremy Clark played perfectly… Lewis just made an outstanding play), the Elks got NOTHING. On the flip side, Bomber receivers were open left, right and center all night long against Hamilton. This should be a great matchup all game long.
4. Trevor Harris… will he play? – That last play of the game for the Riders against the Elks still bothers me and while Trevor Harris is one of the toughest dudes in the CFL, he looked like he was in quite some pain. I’m guessing that he sits this game, despite being listed as a game time decision.
5. Will Mason be Fine? – Assuming that Trevor Harris does sit, will the preseason success that Mason Fine had carry over against a very good team?
