For the second consecutive year the CFL gave its fans an early Christmas present, releasing the 2019 schedule today. Here are some quick notes about the schedule.
– The Riders bye weeks are evenly spaced out. Our byes are in week 5, 10, and 15 in a 21 weeks season.
– The team doesn’t play Edmonton until week 20 of a 21 week season, when the close out with a home and home vs the Eskimos.
– The schedule is not without some long stretches of home games/away games. The Riders play 3 consecutive home games (Week 3/4/) and won’t play on the road between their June 20th game in Ottawa and their July 27th game in BC. On the flip side, they will be away from home for 3 straight later on in the season (Week 18/19/20) to make up the difference.
– They play the Lions and Bombers three times each, with the Bombers twice at home, and the Lions twice on the road.
– I don’t think fans who travel for games could have asked for a better home schedule. 6 games on Saturday, 1 game on Sunday (long weekend), 1 game on Monday (July 1st long weekend) and the remaining game is a Thursday evening game.
