Riders announce Player Award Nominees

Published: Wednesday, Oct 30th 2019, 4:10pm

Most Outstanding Player: Cody Fajardo

Most Outstanding Defensive Player: Charleston Hughes

Most Outstanding Lineman: Dan Clark

Most Outstanding Rookie: Dakoda Shepley

Most Outstanding Canadian: Cameron Judge

Most Outstanding Special Teams Player: Jon Ryan

To nobody’s surprise, Cody Fajardo was announced as the Rider nominee for Most Outstanding Player. 4302 yards, 18 touchdowns and 71.5% accuracy, to go with his 611 yards rushing put Cody Fajardo in the running to come out of the West as the Division nominee. At this point, only Bryan Burnham stands in his way.

Much like Cody Fajardo, Cam Judge is in the midst of his CFL coming out party. 70 tackles, 5 QB sacks, and multiple hellacious hits on unsuspecting QBS, Cameron Judge has solidified himself as a top tier starting Canadian linebacker.

Another CFL season is nearing an end and barring an epic performance from Dylan Wynn (would need 5 sacks) or Ja’Gared Davis (3), Charleston Hughes will once again lead the CFL in Sacks in 2019. That makes 4 consecutive seasons atop the Sack leaderboard for the ageless defensive end.

On May 8th, many wondered if we would see Dan Clark suit up in 2019 after news of a serious car accident started to filter out. When word came out that Clark was ejected from the vehicle, many assumed he would at BEST be delayed to start the season. Instead, Clark has been a mainstay on the offensive line, playing all 18 games and helping solidify an offensive line that has done a solid job of keeping Cody Fajardo upright this season.
