Riders Bring in Reinforcements Following Loss to Montreal

After Saturday’s embarassing 23-17 loss to the Montreal Alouettes, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have brought in help at the 2 positions they need it… Defensive back and offensive line.

Joining the Riders secondary is former 1st round NFL pick Matt Elam. Labeled as a bust in the NFL because of his high draft position, Elam has all the tools to come in and play cornerback right away and allow star receiver Duron Carter to go back and be a receiver again. It may not happen on a short week, but one can dream…

Elam had some legal issues in 2017 following his playing time in Baltimore with the Ravens, but all of that appears to be behind him.

Depth is also on the way to the struggling O-Line as last year’s 2nd round pick of Hamilton’s, Braden Schram is on his way to Saskatchewan. Reported by 3 Down Nation’s Justin Dunk, Schram was released last week and can immediately be the 6th O-Lineman for the Riders. After not dressing a backup O-Lineman against Montreal, the Riders desparately need help keeping starting QB Brandon Bridge upright and able to make a second read.

We will talk more about these signings on Episode 82 of the Piffles Podcast later this week!
