Riders Re-Sign DT Makana Henry; MOB Retires

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed Canadian Defensive Tackle Makana Henry to a new 1 year contract, keeping him with the Riders through 2019. Henry is a solid rotational player on the D-Line and can play some special teams as well. Where Henry makes the biggest difference though, is the community. Henry was the Riders nominee for the Tom Pate Memorial Award last year, an award given to a player who has made a significant contribution to the team, the community and Association to celebrate outstanding sportsmanship.
Henry will back up starter Zack Evans who signed a 4 year contract extension earlier this offseason. With this signing, we may end up saying goodbye to Eddie Steele when free agency starts on Tuesday.
Also this weekend, Safety Marc-Olivier Brouillette took to Twitter and announced his retirement from the CFL. MOB spent 2 seasons with the Riders, but suffered concussions that limited his playing time. We all saw this move coming as MOB has a great post-football gig set up at a law firm. Congrats on a great career MOB! All the best in the future!
