More Mini-Camp roster moves made Wednesday morning as the Saskatchewan Roughriders have released National RB Johnny Augustine, National WR Brett Blaszko and International WR Jacoby Ford as per Riderville.com Senior Reporter Ian Hamilton.
The only surprising part about this is the release of Augustine. After last year’s CFL Combine, many people had high hopes for him and once the Riders signed RB Jerome Messam in free agency this year, the Augustine signing was regarded as a good move if the Riders were to switch the Running Back position to a Canadian spot.
Blaszko didn’t get many reps last season and with the signings of Canadian receivers Devon Bailey and Jake Harty, there really was no room for him here.
Ford was always in tough to make the team as there is no shortage of star International receivers on the Riders roster.
Sounds like Chris Jones has found a few players in mini-camp that he wants to bring to the main Training Camp and that’s why we’ve seen these releases the past few days. Can’t wait to see who makes it out of mini-camp to the big show next month!
