In another moment of TSN’s Farhan Lalji coming in clutch, Lalji posted on X (Twitter) that the Saskatchewan Roughriders, to nobody’s surprise) will name Marc Mueller as their new Offensive Coordinator.

Last week, Corey Mace was named the new head coach of the green and white and since then, we’ve been waiting an announcement on Mueller. The two coached together in Calgary, so they already have a relationship together in the coaching world. Mueller entered last season as the Calgary Stampeders’ QB Coach and was calling plays. He did have his play calling taken away from him from Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson, so a lot of people are worried about that going into 2024. How will he fair?

I can’t put the entire blame of the Stamps bad offense on Mueller. He had a ton of injuries to receivers and running backs last year. While, that’s no excuse, the replacements couldn’t catch a cold. Add in  QB like Jake Maier who is nothing more than a backup, it was a recipe for disaster for the Stamps.

Mueller is a two-time Grey Cup Champion as an assistant coach, so the winning pedigree is there. I like the hire. I like that General Manager Jeremy O’Day and company are bringing in fresh ideas and young coaches. That’s going to bode well in the future. We will just need a bit of patience with this brand new coaching staff. Besides, we all know Mueller is the grandson of CFL and Saskatchewan Roughriders legend Ron Lancaster. Winning is in his blood. It’ll come here in Riderville, too.

Welcome (back) to Saskatchewan, Coach Mueller!
