First off, to all the moms out there in Rider Nation, Happy Mother’s Day! Especially to my mom, who took me to games at Taylor Field, started my love of the CFL and went to the first test event with me at Mosaic Stadium! Enjoy your day, moms!!

It’s here, it’s here! Training Camp is here!! The rookies have had their mini-camp and now the ones that made it get to go up against the veterans beginning today! Here’s hoping we see some great battles in Training Camp! It’s going to be interesting to see the roster that new head coach Corey Mace puts together.

In a surprising move on Sunday morning before Training Camp, 3 Down Nation’s Justin Dunk reported that the Riders have released DB Jalon Edwards-Cooper. A shock for sure, as he was set to be one of the starters in the defensive backfield, after signing him in free agency.

There were some roster moves before Rookie Camp began on Wednesday in Saskatoon. The Riders Signed WR Braydon Johnson, Global Draft pick DL Tyrone Taleni & Global Punter Joe Couch. The team also signed all but two of their 2024 Canadian Draft Class, including LB Nick Wiebe, WR Dhel-Duncan-Busby, LB Melique Straker, WR D’Sean Mimbs, WR Ajou Ajou & DB Richard Aduboffour. (Missing 1st round pick OL Kyle Hergel & 5th round pick OL Daniel Johnson).

As part of their roster moves following rookie camp, the team released WR O’Joshua Bunton (who was released earlier in the week), RB Kennedy Brooks, LB Jaxon Ciraolo-Brown (Canadian), LB Jaylen Moody, LB Marcus Murphy, DL Elijah Ponder & DB Mark Fields II

We also learned that Offensive Linemen Jerald Hawkins, Jonathan Hubbard, Sadarius Hutcherson & Brandon Council will not report to Camp. A big blow to the competition for the open Left Tackle competition.

And congrats go out to Riders QB Shea Patterson, as he mentioned on Cart Conversations with Luc Mullinder that he is going to be a father!

Now that Training Camp is here, what are the top battles to watch? I gave my Top 5 list for what I’m definitely going to be paying attention to over the next couple of weeks.

I also gave my Top 5 Offseason Moments from here in Riderville. It was a BUSY offseason, maybe more than normal here in Saskatchewan. Definitely an offseason of change.
