Riderville Roundup – May 26

To say it was a busy week in Riderville would be an understatement. Two preseason games in five days with Training Camp squished in between is quite a week for any team.

But the week started out GREAT! I said earlier in the week that any time the Riders beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, it’s a good day. That’s exactly what happened on Victoria Day as the Riders beat up on the Bombers 25-12, with both the O and D looking very good and making some decisions for Head Coach Corey Mace very tough.

A few roster moves were then made following that first game, with the green and white adding receiver Joe Robustelli and defensive back Nacario Harper. To make room for them on the roster, the Riders released defensive back Nick Nelson and linebacker K.D. Davis.

On Saturday, the Riders finished off their preseason schedule against the Edmonton Elks. THAT game really looked like a preseason game to me… and a team that was playing for the second time in five days. Regardless, the Riders found a way to hang on for a 28-27 win, to finish the preseason with a perfect 2-0 record

What’s next for the Riders? The team heads to Regina for the final week of Training Camp. It will be interesting to see if the Riders make some roster moves before the team has the rest of their practices or if they keep everyone around for the week ahead of final cuts. The final roster is due on Saturday, June 1, though we may not get the official roster until Sunday.
