The CFL’s annual Global Draft just wrapped up with the Saskatchewan Roughriders adding two more players to their roster.

In the first round, 3rd overall, the Riders selected DL Tyrone Taleni out of USC. He hails from Savai’i, Western Samoa. In the second round, 12th overall, the Riders took P Jordy Sandy from TCU. He hails from Traralgon, Australia.

Last year, the Riders did pretty well in the Global Draft, selecting Punter Adam Korsak and Defensive Lineman Habakkuk Baldonado. The first few Global Drafts weren’t really taken that seriously by GM’s across the CFL, basically just taking punters as a token spot. But lately, we’ve seen a few pretty good picks by these General Managers. We’ll see if one of or both of the 2024 Global Draft picks can crack the Riders roster soon enough.

The Roughriders take the field next week on Wednesday when Rookie Camp opens in Saskatoon. Main Camp begins on Sunday, May 12th.
