Ben McIntosh and the red-hot Saskatchewan Rush look to start the season 3-0, as they take on the defending Champions Cup winning Georgia Swarm in Atlanta on Saturday night.
After defeating the Rush in last year’s Champions Cup, there may be a bit of a cup hangover as the Swarm have started the season 1-2, with losses to both the Colorado Mammoth an the New England Black Wolves. The Rush, meanwhile, have ridden their stellar offense to a 2-0 start, outscoring their opponents 41-20. The Rush also took on Georgia in the preseason, soundly defeating the Swarm 24-9 in that affair.
In their last matchup, the Rush peppered former goaltender Aaron Bold (and his back up Doug Jamieson) for 24 goals and will look to continue their torrid pace against Mike Poulin tomorrow night. Right now, the Saskatchewan Rush lead the NLL in goals per game, led by Ben McIntosh’s 10 goals, and Mark Matthews 18 points.
The Rush will have to defend against the Swarm’s leading scorer, Lyle Thompson, one of 4 Thompson brothers on the roster for these 2 teams (Miles, Lyle and Jerome for the Swarm, Jeremy for the Rush).
Prediction: Saskatchewan Rush avenge their Champions Cup loss with a 19-11 victory over the Georgia Swarm
