If exciting football is what you’re after, it won’t get much better than what we saw this past Saturday night in the CFL. All 3 games were either within 3 points going into the 4th quarter, or decided by 3 or less when the game ended. Just when you thought the Riders vs Argos game had a thrilling the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger Cats came in and put on a show in the 4th quarter and overtime.
Calgary remains atop the CFL for another week coming out of their bye week. They more or less have a playoff spot (and likely 1st in the West) all but locked up.
Ottawa jumps up to 2nd after their 13 point victory over the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday afternoon. Any time you can hold Mike Reilly to under 300 yards and 1 passing touchdown, your defense has had a good day.
Saskatchewan jumps up to 3rd after their win over the Toronto Argonauts. Their offense showed signs of hope in the 1st half before fizzling out to nothing in the 2nd half. As long as the game is within a field goal to win, I trust Brett Lauther to get it done almost anywhere on the field.
BC vaults past Hamilton for 5th place after their thrilling victory. Were it not for a bad coaching decision and an amazing catch by Bryan Burnham, we are talking about BC dropping down a few spots, but here we are.
Winnipeg ended their 4 game losing streak in Johnny Manziel’s return to the starter’s role for Montreal. They needed that win as they have a much tougher task next week in Edmonton. They can’t afford many more losses down the stretch or else “the most complete team in the CFL” is likely to miss out on the playoffs all together.
