1 – Calgary (4-0)
2 – Edmonton (3-2)
3 – Winnipeg (2-3)
4 – Hamilton (2-2)
5 – Saskatchewan (2-2)
6 – Ottawa (2-2)
7 – Toronto (1-3)
8 – BC (2-2)
9 – Montreal (1-3)
This has been a strange season in the CFL through 5 weeks. The only thing we know for certain, is the death of the Calgary Stampeders was called much too early. Yet again, they are running away as the class of the league in the regular season. Spots 2-8 seem to more or less a dart board toss where you could make a point for each team to be moved up or down 2 or 3 spots.
Both BC and Edmonton bounced back in the 2nd half of their home and home vs Winnipeg and Toronto respectively. BC’s bounce back was quite literally in the second half, as they managed to come back from a late 17-0 deficit to beat the Blue Bombers. It will take another solid effort from the BC Lions to show me they deserve to move up from 8th right now, but they are looking in the right direction.
I’m not putting too much stock in Winnipeg’s loss. I still think they are a top 3 team in the CFL right now, but it will be interesting to see how they bounce back from this one.
Several fans suggested I ranked the Ottawa REDBLACKS far too high last week, and after an abysmal performance versus the Calgary Stampeders, they took a healthy drop back to the lower half of the rankings where they seem to belong.
