Safimod’s 2019 Power Rankings – Division Finals Edition

By: Stephen Safinuk (@Safimod)

1 – Hamilton Tiger-cats (15-3) (LW: 1)

2 – Saskatchewan Roughriders (13-5) (LW: 2)

3 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers (11-7) (LW: 3)

4 – Edmonton Eskimos (8-10) (LW: 6)

On Sunday afternoon in Montreal, the Edmonton Eskimos took their first step into doing what no team has ever done. They are one win away from becoming the first team in CFL history to advance to the Grey Cup via the crossover. Unfortunately for them, the #1 ranked 15-3 Hamilton Tiger Cats and their 9-0 home record now stand in their way.

Meanwhile, halfway across the country, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers rode their two-quarterback system all the way to a decisive 35-14 victory over Bo Levi Mitchell and the Calgary Stampeders. Much like Edmonton, Winnipeg now has to contend with a team who finished with a solid home record (8-1) if they hope to advance to their first Grey Cup since 2011 in BC.

Hamilton and Saskatchewan remain #1 and #2 in the power rankings, but it is the CFL playoffs now. Anything can, and usually does, happen.

Who will be playing for the Grey Cup on Sunday, November 24th in Calgary? Check back on Friday for the CFL Playoff Preview to find out!
