1 – Calgary Stampeders (5-2) (LW: 5)
2 – Hamilton Tiger-cats (5-2) (LW: 1)
3 – Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-3) (LW: 6)
4 – Montreal Alouettes (3-3) (LW: 3)
5 – Edmonton Eskimos (4-3) (LW: 4)
6 – Ottawa REDBLACKS (3-4) (LW: 7)
7 – Toronto Argonauts (1-6) (LW: 9)
8 – BC Lions (1-6) (LW: 8)
9 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-2) (LW: 2)
Up until this past week, the Toronto Argonauts have looked absolutely God awful. Over their 6 game losing streak, they had a PF/PA plus minus of -139 and had scored a grand total of 75 points. Then the Winnipeg Blue Bombers rolled in to town, expecting to run out of town with a win like Kawhi Leonard. Instead, they lost, and got mocked on Twitter by the Argonauts in the process. Lose to a team that’s looked that bad, and you will find yourself at the bottom of the rankings for at least a week. Feel shame, Winnipeg. Feel shame.
The Calgary Stampeders made a rise up the rankings as the only team in the top 5 from last week to win, and did so against the 4th ranked Edmonton Eskimos. They find themselves in familiar territory atop my rankings and the CFL standings.
The Roughriders needed almost every second of the 60 minutes to beat a Hamilton Tiger Cat team missing several of its key players. But, by the end of that 60 minutes, the Riders were missing several key pieces of its own to even the playing field. Cody Fajardo cemented his spot as THE guy in Saskatchewan, toughing through his ankle injury with a sprinkle of Jesus on his way into the end zone with 20 seconds to go.
The Ottawa REDBLACKS did everything in their power to give Montreal their 4th consecutive win, but Devonte Dedmon had other ideas. The defense and special teams did their part, but the Ottawa offense is still very much a work in progress. Still, a win is a win, and the REDBLACKS move up from 7th to 6th place.
What a strange week. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranked teams ended up getting beat by the 6th, 9th, 7th and 5th ranked teams. Wonder what this upcoming week will bring.
