Saskatchewan followed up their dominating win over Calgary with a very convincing win over the Alouettes on Friday night in Saskatchewan. They are in a battle with Edmonton over who will be the hottest team going in to the playoffs when they meet on Saturday night.
While those 2 Western teams will enter into the CFL playoffs on a high, the Stampeders and Blue Bombers will battle on Friday to decide who goes into the playoffs on a win, and who goes in on a three game losing streak. Neither team looks at the top of their game right now, and will need to get some momentum back on their side in Friday’s tilt.
As we look over to the East, the Ottawa REDBLACKS and Hamilton Tiger-Cats played one of the most exciting games of the CFL season thus far. After a rough start to the season by Ottawa (1-6-1) they do manage to turn it around and finish the season with the exact same 8-9-1 record from last season. Toronto will need a win over the BC Lions to claim 1st in the East. I, for one, hope that happens. Not because I have issues with the REDBLACKS. More so because I want their division winner to actually have a .500 record. If Toronto loses to BC, the 5th place BC Lions will finish just 1 point back of the first place Ottawa REDBLACKS.
There is a lot on the line in the last week of the season. While the 6 playoff teams have been decided for a few weeks, we still don’t know any of the matchups for the playoffs. All we know is the Calgary Stampeders will host the Western Final on November 19th. Every other spot is still up for grabs.
Speaking of Playoffs – the Piffles Podcast will be hosting a playoff party at the Press Box on November 12th. If you’re interested in coming out and watching the game with us, let us know. Limited spots available.
