As we all know, Rider Pride is world wide and our goal at the Piffles Podcast in 2018 is to share more of YOUR Rider Pride with the world! That’s why we are running a fan contest! We want to know more about YOU, the great Saskatchewan Roughriders fans!
This week, our spotlight is on Carlo Palazzo of Regina, SK!
How long have you been a Rider fan?
Since I can remember – 30+years
How did you get into cheering for the Riders in the first place?
Honestly, I can’t pinpoint it but my family would be the main reason
What is your first Saskatchewan Roughriders memory?
89 Grey Cup
Do you have season tickets? Who do you go to games with?
I have had season tickets for 12 years. I sit with my wife and our football family 2 couples and their kids
What is your favourite part of going to a Rider game?
The game experience itself. Connecting with people I haven’t chatted with in awhile and watching game.
Who is your favourite CURRENT Rider?
I have never been one to have a favorite player past or present. I would say if I had to choose one it would be Willie Jefferson. The guy is a beast and super talented. He has made the team so much better since he has came.
Who is your favourite ALL-TIME Rider?
Don Narcisse – just a class act on and off the field. I was able get get his autograph and picture at a book signing and he was just so humble
What is your favourite Rider possession?
Hmmm – that is a tough question. I would say my tickets from the 07 and 13 Grey Cups
Besides Grey Cups, what is your favourite Rider moment of all time?
I got married on Labor Day weekend in 2012. My wife and I along with our wedding party went to Play it Safe day for some of our photos. Jim Hopson saw us when we first got on the field and he THANKED US for being there. I was thinking it should be the other way around. We got some awesome photos that we’ll never forget.
Besides Regina, what is your favourite CFL city to watch a game at?
BC and Toronto They are such big cities and the Stadiums are very nice.
Finally, what does ‘Rider Pride’ mean to you?
Being proud of the team and they city. Cheering for the Riders though the good times and bad times. I love that you can travel anywhere in the world and see somewhere wearing Rider colors. Also, being able to strike up a conversation with fans across Canada and the US.
