Burn the Film

31-0 is definitely not the outcome we all envisioned when the Riders went into Winnipeg this past weekend. I fully expected Winnipeg to win the game, but WOW. Did not see it happening like that. The Riders have a stinker like this every year and there isn’t much to learn from. All aspects of the game sucked. Easy to forget and move on and focus on the next one. I don’t expect a win for them against Calgary, but I fully expect a different team to show up on Saturday.

That said, in a league where you get REWARDED FOR FAILURE (the Rouge), getting shut out is simply embarassing. You know the team isn’t going to let that happen again and with Calgary not looking all that great, this should be a pretty competitive game.

Back up the Brinks Truck

Adam Bighill for the Bombers was an absolute monster in the Bombers vs Riders game and is now my pick for Defensive Player of the Year. As great as Willie Jefferson and Charleston Hughes has been, the impact that Bighill consistently has game in and game out is just at another level. Salary Management System or not, back up the Brinks truck to the Bighill home and let the man write his own number down.

Wild Wild West

What a final three weeks we are in store for. As nervous as us fans get over the games, this is EXACTLY what the league wants. There is still a (slight) battle for first, a huge battle for 2nd and an even bigger battle for 3rd and 4th to see who even makes the playoffs. What a great time to be a CFL fan right now (sorry Toronto and Montreal fans). People complained about the lack of divisional games at the beginning of the season, but we have the entire West division fighting it out now and the battle for 1st in the East. They knew exactly what they were doing.
