As you may have heard, Alex, Greg and myself will be heading to Winnipeg next week, to check out Marks CFL Week. Here is a list of some of the must-see events going on during the week,
Safimod vs Simoni
During the week at some point, I will be taking on Simoni Lawrence in a 40 yard dash. Well…he will be dashing 40 yards, I will be dashing 25. My overall expectation is that Simoni Lawrence beats me by at least 10 yards, but it will be fun nonetheless.
You Make The Call
This was a fun event in 2017. Basically, the league will show you a handful of plays that have occurred over the years, and you decide what the call on the play would have been (touchdown, turnover, penalty, etc) for a chance to win prizes. Last year, they had some pretty good prizes, including an official CFL warm up jacket, mini footballs, and official penalty flags, and you get to learn a lot about why some of the calls are made the way they are.
Football Frenzy Field
Fans will get the opportunity to run through some of the same drills as the CIS/NCAA players running through the combine. Ever wanted to know what your 40 time was? I know I do.
Hall of Fame Class of 2018
CFL Week kicks off on Wednesday night with the hall of fame class unveiling. Last year in Regina, they had a star studded field including Anthony Calvillo, Geroy Simon, Mike O’Shea and Brian Towriss. Ticket are $200, and can be found here
Twisted Tea Fan Cave Entertainment
A lot of events throughout the week will be held here, including CFL Week Live with Brodie Lawson and Davis Sanchez, You Make the Call, Riderville, and more. This will be a place to be throughout the week.
CFL Fan Tweet Up
On March 23rd, the CFL is hosting a Tweet Up at the previously mentioned Twisted Tea Fan Cave – come on out and meet some of the people you interact with on a daily basis, including the guys from Piffles Podcast
CFL Combine
Watch as the best of the best from across North America battle it out to improve their spot on draft day. 40 yard dash, 3 cone drill, 1 on 1s and more. How these guys perform on Combine day will go a long way towards determining where they end up on draft day.
CFL Player Interviews
Keep your eyes peeled to www.PifflesPodcast.com – We will be interviewing many of the top 50 players from across the CFL throughout the week. Are there any players you would love to talk to? Got a question for any of them? Let us know – we would love to ask them for you.
